Family History and Issues
Sofia’s achievement is all the more remarkable in light of her family background. She is a daughter of C Venkatesan, a conductor on TNSTC buses for the last 17 years. Venkatesan had studied only till Class X, but although he lacked formal education, he toiled day and night to provide for his family.
Sathya, Sofia’s mom, is a BCom graduate who is a homemaker. She has acted as a support to Sofia when the father is working. The value of education can be seen in the family too in the image of Sofia’s elder brother who is studying for an engineering degree.
Venkatesan was beaming with pride for his daughter’s accomplishment and quoted, “She made us the proudest parents today. My daughter is continuing where I left off at school.” This is because of good family values and support that have driven Sofia forward.
Studying Successfully Without Tuition
The most impressive thing about Sofia’s tale is her steady study schedule, without the aid of any formal tuition classes or private lessons, that most students would long to undertake.
- Sleeps at 5 am every day to get ready for an hour before school.
- Gets ready for another two hours at night.
- Beats 10 pm night hours so that she sleeps soundly.
- Achieved a perfect 100 marks in English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science.
- Achieved 99 marks in Tamil, which is her mother tongue.
Sofia’s self-motivation and discipline demonstrate the possibility of overcoming enormous obstacles with sheer effort and determination, such as the absence of additional guidance or costly tutorial materials.
Appreciation and Community Appreciation
Sofia’s success has not gone without reward. Officials of the TNSTC Kumbakonam division recently honored her, applauding not only her academic achievement but also her father’s years of service as a bus conductor. This act serves to underscore the influence of parental encouragement and community appreciation in determining the destiny of students.
Future Ambitions and Plans
In spite of such illustrious performances, Sofia remains humble and interested in the future. Sofia has also made it quite clear that she wishes to become a doctor. Her aspiration is to study further in the field of medical sciences with the aim of serving her people and introducing a good change in human life.
But Sofia also expressed a requirement of proper career counseling in selecting the right course and career stream, emphasizing the need for apt career counseling and financial assistance.
